Protection for Meadow Birds

Aufwind made a donation to support a project of the nature conservation center in the Kleve district to protect endangered meadow birds. Many species such as the lapwing, skylark or black-tailed godwit hardly find any suitable breeding areas in the intensively used agricultural landscape.

The funding was used to finance a competition that recognizes farmers' commitment to meadowland bird conservation, and to purchase a spotting scope with rangefinder. The latter makes it easier to find the well-camouflaged lapwing nests. Any nests discovered are marked so that farmers can spare them during cultivation - an effective measure to increase breeding success.
